Sample Letter to President John Welty, CSU Fresno

President John Welty:

Is it time to reconsider CSU Fresno's relationship to KMJ Radio? This station spews out hatred 39 hours of Prime Time each week—Limbaugh, Appleton, Hannity, Beck, Daniel, Barks and Levin. The hatred is against the President, minorities and immigrants, in particular.

I only turn to this station to listen to an occasional Fresno State game that is not broadcast any place else. Listeners to that station tell me that this question was asked of callers to one show: "What surprises you most about Barack Obama?" The caller's response: "I am most surprised that no one has put a bullet in him yet!"

In light of the mission statement of Fresno State and in respect to the population of this University—where the minority is the majority—isn't it time we rethink allowing our games to be broadcast on this station? By permitting its games to be broadcast on this station, to the exclusion of other worthy stations in this area, Fresno State unwittingly gives legitimacy to a station that spews out hatred on a daily basis.

Again, in light of our mission statement and other documents, isn't it time we reconsider our relationship to radio station KMJ?
